Men were foolish and were made only so that they should die, while mountains and rivers went on for ever and did not notice the passing of time.

Roald Dahl
About This Quote

We live in a world of endless time; we know that the Earth is very old and that our lives will soon end. We don’t want to think about that, but we must. At some point, we will die and we will not rise again. We must be ready to face this life and its finite time on Earth.

But we also know that we do not exist in isolation. The Earth is vast and full of life, and one day it may be destroyed by another life form or another catastrophe. How would we feel if another planet came into being just a few light years from our own? How would we feel if another galaxy came into being just a few million light years from our own? We cannot control the way the Earth changes over time, but we can control how we treat it.

We can be good stewards of this planet, or we can let it slowly go down the drain.
